Yellow Pulao
A spiced pulao with tomatoes, peas, and warming masalas, finished with ketchup.
Ingredients
- 1½ bowls rice (soak 15–20 minutes)
- 2 tomatoes
- 2 onions
- 1 bowl peas
- 200 g peas (vatana)
- 4–5 green chilies
- 2 cardamoms
- red chili powder (listed as chili powder)
- 1 tsp garam masala
- salt (added after water)
- ghee (added during cooking and also used for tempering)
- cumin (jeera)
- turmeric powder
- coriander powder (dhania masala)
- ketchup
- water (amount not specified)
Instructions
- Heat ghee; add cumin, cardamom, and green chilies.
- Add onion and sauté until well sautéed.
- Add tomatoes, mix, and sauté.
- Add peas/vatana and all masalas except salt; sauté and cook for 7–8 minutes.
- Add rice and sauté slowly.
- Add ghee, then add water and salt.
- Cook in a cooker.
