Vegetable Biryani (Pressure Cooker)

A pressure-cooker vegetable biryani with fried onions and potatoes, mixed vegetables, biryani masala, curd, and whole spices.

Ingredients

  • 1½ bowls rice (soak 30 minutes)
  • 50 g carrots (cut into long pieces)
  • 400 g peas
  • 3 potatoes
  • 4 onions
  • 2 tsp biryani masala (Everest)
  • oil
  • ghee
  • curd (yogurt)
  • 9 cloves
  • 2 pieces cinnamon (small)
  • water (amount not specified)

Instructions

  1. In oil, fry the onion and potatoes.
  2. When the onion becomes light pink, add carrots and peas.
  3. Mix well; add boiled peas, potatoes, and carrots, then add biryani masala and curd.
  4. Mix again and let it cook for a while.
  5. Add the soaked rice and water, then add cloves and cinnamon.
  6. Cook in a cooker.

Tips

  • Alternative order: first add rice to water; when the water boils, add carrot, peas, and potatoes.
  • After 5 minutes, reduce the heat and let it cook.
  • After 10–15 minutes, remove the rice in a strainer.
