Quick urad dal cooked briefly (about 2 whistles) and finished with spices, aromatics, and optional tomato and tadka.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Udad dal (urad dal)
- Haldi (turmeric)
- Salt
- Red chilli (form not specified)
- Hing (asafoetida)
- Ginger-chilli paste
- Coriander (fresh)
- Garlic paste
- Rai (mustard seeds) (optional seasoning (tadka), with jeera)
- Jeera (cumin seeds) (optional seasoning (tadka), with rai)
- Tomatoes (optional)
Instructions
- Boil 1 cup urad dal (about 2 whistles).
- Add haldi, salt, red chilli, hing, ginger-chilli paste, coriander, and garlic paste.
- Optionally add a seasoning (tadka) of rai and jeera.
- Optionally add tomatoes.
Tips
- You can put seasoning of rai-jeera and you can also add tomatoes.
