Tomato, Peas, and Onion Sabzi

A gravy-style mixed sabzi of peas and onions simmered with tomatoes and finished with red chili powder.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg green peas
  • 2 onions
  • 1/4 kg tomatoes (chopped medium-size)
  • salt (to taste)
  • turmeric
  • coriander powder
  • garam masala
  • red chili powder (added after second boil)
  • oil (for tempering)
  • mustard seeds (for tempering)
  • cumin seeds (for tempering)
  • 2 bowls water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil with mustard seeds and cumin seeds (tempering).
  2. Add peas and onions and sauté.
  3. Add all spices except red chili powder and add 2 bowls of water.
  4. When it starts boiling, add chopped medium-size tomatoes.
  5. When it boils again, add red chili powder and cook.
