Spicy Mung Dal
Pressure-cooked mung dal seasoned with red chili powder, salt, and hing, with a small oil-ghee-hing tempering.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup mung dal (soak 1 hour beforehand)
- red chili powder
- salt
- asafoetida (hing) (also mentioned in tempering)
- 2 tsp oil (for tempering)
- ghee (for tempering)
- water (enough to boil; plus a little water with spices)
Instructions
- Soak the dal 1 hour beforehand.
- Wash the dal, add enough water, and boil in a pressure cooker.
- Add red chili powder, salt, hing, and a little water.
- Cook in the pressure cooker until one whistle.
