Boiled moong dal seasoned with ginger, green chilies, spices, jaggery and lemon, finished with a mustard-cumin tempering in oil and ghee.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup moong (whole or split)
- ginger (crushed)
- 3–4 green chilies
- salt
- turmeric
- red chili powder
- jaggery
- lemon
- mustard seeds (tempering)
- cumin (tempering)
- oil (tempering)
- ghee (tempering)
Instructions
- Boil the moong until cooked.
- Prepare tempering: add mustard seeds first, then add the rest of the tempering ingredients (cumin, oil, ghee).
- Add ginger, green chilies, salt, turmeric, red chili powder, jaggery, and lemon to the dal.
- Mix well and serve.
