Mix Dal
A blend of mixed lentils boiled together, lightly blended, spiced, and tempered with rai and hing.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup mixed dals (total) (moong dal, channa dal, tuvar dal, udad dal; NOTE says all dals together should come up to 1 cup (conflicting))
- moong dal (part of mixed dals)
- channa dal (part of mixed dals)
- tuvar dal (part of mixed dals)
- udad dal (part of mixed dals)
- ginger
- green chilies
- red chili powder
- turmeric (haldi)
- salt
- garam masala (slight)
- mustard seeds (rai) (for tempering)
- oil (for tempering)
- asafoetida (hing) (for tempering)
Instructions
- Boil all the dals together.
- Blend the cooked dals a little.
- Add ginger, green chilies, red chili powder, turmeric, salt, and a little garam masala.
- Prepare tempering with oil, rai, and hing, and add it to the dal; season and serve.
Tips
- NOTE: All the dals together should come up to 1 cup (as written), though the recipe also states 1 1/2 cup total dal.
