Green Tuvar Bean Vegetable

Tuvar Dana nu Shaak

Pressure-cooked green tuvar (pigeon peas) vegetable made with a spiced tempering and finished with cloves after cooling.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg tuvar (pigeon peas / tuvar dana) (green tuvar)
  • 1 piece onion
  • garam masala
  • cloves (add after cooker cools)
  • black pepper
  • salt
  • turmeric (haldi)
  • coriander-cumin powder (dhaniya-jeeru)
  • oil (for tempering (vaghar))
  • mustard seeds (for tempering (vaghar))
  • asafoetida (hing) (for tempering (vaghar))
  • 1/2 bowl water (for pressure cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare tempering with oil, mustard seeds, asafoetida, and add all spices except cloves.
  2. Transfer to a pressure cooker with tuvar and onion; add 1/2 bowl water and cook for 2 whistles.
  3. After the cooker cools, add cloves and boil.
