Green Peas and Onion Dry Sabzi (Kopra-Style)

Dry-style peas and onions cooked with a spiced tempering and finished with a little water for doneness.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 2 onions (chopped into long pieces)
  • 3–4 green chilies
  • 3 tsp turmeric
  • coriander powder
  • salt (to taste)
  • garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • asafoetida (hing)
  • red chili powder
  • oil (for tempering)
  • water (a little)

Instructions

  1. Chop onions into long pieces.
  2. Heat oil; add onions and cook until they turn red.
  3. Add peas.
  4. Add all spices, cover, and cook on low heat for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Add a little water and cook until done.

Tips

  • Using the same masala method, you can make tasty vegetable dishes with peas and onions and other vegetables too.
