Green Choliya

Green choliya cooked with mustard-hing tempering and basic spices, simmered slowly and stirred occasionally.

Ingredients

  • 400 g choliya (chopped)
  • red chili powder
  • salt (to taste)
  • turmeric
  • dhana-jeera (coriander-cumin powder)
  • peas (mentioned in method; quantity not specified)
  • oil (for tempering)
  • mustard seeds (for tempering)
  • asafoetida (hing) (for tempering)
  • water (a little)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil with mustard seeds and hing (tempering).
  2. Add chopped choliya.
  3. Add peas, then add spices.
  4. Cover and cook; add a little water if needed.
  5. Keep on medium gas and stir occasionally.
  6. Cook for 1/2 hour on low gas.
