Dahi Vada
Soft fried urad-dal dumplings soaked in water, then served in curd/yogurt with sweet chutney and chili powder.
Ingredients
- 250 gm Urad dal (soaked)
- Salt (to taste)
- 3–4 Green chillies
- Oil (for frying)
- Water (for soaking fried vadas)
- Curd/yogurt (for serving)
- Sweet chutney (to top)
- Red chilli powder (to top)
Instructions
- Soak urad dal for 2–3 hours.
- Grind soaked dal with green chilies and salt, using minimal water.
- Whip the batter well.
- Heat oil and fry small vadas until cooked.
- Soak fried vadas in water; after 5 minutes, squeeze out the water.
- Place vadas into curd/yogurt.
- Top with sweet chutney and red chilli powder.
Tips
- Do not add too much water while grinding.
- Whip the batter well for lighter vadas.
