Kala Vatana Masala

Black peas and onions cooked in a tempered spice base and simmered with water into a masala-style sabzi.

Ingredients

  • 3 black peas (kala vatana)
  • 3 onions
  • red chili powder
  • salt (to taste)
  • turmeric
  • coriander powder
  • oil (for tempering)
  • mustard seeds (for tempering)
  • cumin seeds (for tempering)
  • water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil with mustard seeds and cumin seeds (tempering).
  2. Add black peas and onions.
  3. Add spices and sauté well.
  4. Add water and cook.
