Batata Pudla
A spiced potato-onion mixture cooked after a mustard-hing tempering; cooked gently to avoid burning.
Ingredients
- 1/4 kg potatoes (boiled; soak in water 15 minutes before (as written))
- 2 medium onion
- 4–5 green chillies
- cumin seeds
- 1 lemon
- red chilli powder
- salt
- turmeric
- oil (for tempering)
- mustard seeds (for tempering)
- hing (asafoetida) (for tempering)
Instructions
- Soak the boiled potatoes in water about 15 minutes before starting (as written).
- Make tempering: heat oil and add mustard seeds and hing.
- Add onion, green chillies, and potatoes.
- Add cumin seeds, lemon, red chilli powder, salt, and turmeric; mix well.
- Cook on a slow flame for 5–10 minutes.
Tips
- Cook on low flame; high flame may burn.
